Summary

“Welcome to the family,” Nina Winchester says as I shake her elegant, manicured hand。 I smile politely, gazing around the marble hallway。 Working here is my last chance to start fresh。 I can pretend to be whoever I like。 But I’ll soon learn that the Winchesters’ secrets are far more dangerous than my own…

Every day I clean the Winchesters’ beautiful house top to bottom。 I collect their daughter from school。 And I cook a delicious meal for the whole family before heading up to eat alone in my tiny room on the top floor。

I try to ignore how Nina makes a mess just to watch me clean it up。 How she tells strange lies about her own daughter。 And how her husband Andrew seems more broken every day。 But as I look into Andrew’s handsome brown eyes, so full of pain, it’s hard not to imagine what it would be like to live Nina’s life。 The walk-in closet, the fancy car, the perfect husband。

I only try on one of Nina’s pristine white dresses once。 Just to see what it’s like。 But she soon finds out… and by the time I realize my attic bedroom door only locks from the outside, it’s far too late。

But I reassure myself: the Winchesters don’t know who I really am。

They don’t know what I’m capable of…

An unbelievably twisty read that will have you glued to the pages late into the night。 Anyone who loves The Woman in the Window, The Wife Between Us and The Girl on the Train won’t be able to put this down!

Damn trippy! Great ending! Review to come

Holly Forrestel

Rich, emotionally unstable housewife。 Too good to be true husband。 Housemaid with mysterious criminal past。 Also - a creepy, annoying child thrown in。 You definitely need to suspend belief for the ending -- some plot holes there。 But still a satisfying conclusion。 Would read this author again。

Jessica Collins

4。5-5 I’m not sure - but I LOVE me a good revenge, “good for her” horror-thriller。 Gave me Gone Girl and They Never Learn vibes which I both loved so much。 If you want a super solid, twisty, revenge thriller this one is for you。

Wow! What a book。 What a gripping story- which I’m sure is true somewhere for someone。 It pulls you in and before you know it, you’re finished。 I really couldn’t stop reading。 It was so good! I kept wondering what would happen next。 Reminds me of “behind closed doors”。

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐This was one of the best Mystery Thriller's I have ever read。 Hands down the best I've read this year。Millie is struggling to find a job because of her past when she is given the opportunity to work as a housemaid in a live-in position for an extremely wealthy family that pays her really well。 Because she is a convict who needs the money, she puts up with Nina Winchester's nasty behaviour and split personality。 Her room is in the smallest attic and their daugther Cecelia is a spoiled and ru ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐This was one of the best Mystery Thriller's I have ever read。 Hands down the best I've read this year。Millie is struggling to find a job because of her past when she is given the opportunity to work as a housemaid in a live-in position for an extremely wealthy family that pays her really well。 Because she is a convict who needs the money, she puts up with Nina Winchester's nasty behaviour and split personality。 Her room is in the smallest attic and their daugther Cecelia is a spoiled and rude brat。 The only family member who is nice to her is Nina's husband Andrew。 Rich, handsome, polite。 The perfect husband。 But all that glitters is not gold。This is a very well conceived book。 Writing wise and plot wise。 It alternates between Millie and Nina's POV and it is crucial that is does。Because I have read SO many YA and Adult Mysteries, I saw the first plot twist coming。 But I was incredibly shocked by the remaining plot twists。 It's not just the ending that shocks, it's the story itself。 It's like the premise is a plot twist on it's own。 It is just SUCH an amazing story that had me glued from the start, flipping through pages like a maniac。 There is something special about Freida's writing。 No word goes to waste。 Evey character, every detail, everything you read serves a purpose。 Every word is meaningful and will come in handy later on。 Everything MAKES SENSE。 I could spend hours bragging about her writing and her originality。 I would love to see this turn into a series following Millie's life and her other jobs。 It would be interesting。 ♡ 。。。more

I know this has gotten rave reviews and it’s going to be a movie and all that, but I couldn’t get into it -- from the beginning I’m like, Okay, nothing is what it appears to be here, neat。 I skipped ahead to see what was going on and I’m glad I didn’t spend the time on it。

ABSOLUTELY a must read! A perfect job ends up being a nightmare。 While, as usual, I figured out one main part, it didn’t matter。 There were so many twists that follow, it leaves you in that state of shock。 I was for sure on the edge of my seat the entire time。 From page one to the last page, there was never a dull moment。 I could not put it down。 Excellent must read! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️’s from me! Now to choose my next book! Happy reading, y’all! 📚❤️📚
